Possible reason why specific election seems unfair

Published Wednesday, February 21, 2007

I came across a diagram which may offer insight into why specific election is so reprehensible to many.  While I wasn't able to keep a copy of the handout, I did my best to recreate it from memory.

The question I will pose to you is this:  What possible presuppositions represented above would certainly make specific election seem unfair and even unjust?

I'll award 5 points to anyone who identifies what I belive is the most basic problematic presupposition.  Hint:  I'm thinking in very broad terms rather than addressing the numbered assertions specifically.

Is it that we r all headded 2wards hell, and that God has chosen us out of that directional line, re-rirecting us (christians) towards heaven?

Hell should be top label on diagram & heaven bottom 1 with different explainations on numbered points?

5 points?

Your chart, it sais the word Predestined, arent you getting predistinated mixed up with Preordination? my understanding of a predestiny being designed by God implies a destiny that is predeturmand, meaning it cant be changed, not even by sin. Thus making the chart wrong. But if then the word Preordination is used it implies the person is ordained to inherite eturnal life at some given time. Pre ordination being like the word "pre orderd" like when you buy a movie ticket in advanced. YOu can take your ticket and go see the movie or you can take your pre-orderd ticket and ether decline it or even accept it and then wrip it up. thus alowing a person to be able to be pre-ordained but later in esens discarding the ordination threw sin, just like tearing up the ticket. am i wrong on this understanding? Thanks.

The issue i have with Predistiny is that it gets into a fuddy duddy areas, what i mean is, for things to be truely predestined things would have to be set up like a mousetrap/dominos/aneventscript (take your pick). in order for person to be predeturmand from the begining to reside in Hell or Hevin would imply taking mans agensy from him. Why even bother going threw this ordeal called life. If this be the case why doesnt God just sort us out by placing us in Heven or Hell with out this thing we call mortality? Im not saying that things dont happen that arent predeturmand, Many of the laws of nature apear to be set up that way. (there is some debate when you start to mess with quantum mechanics) But when some one says God is making the desisions for us and he makes up our mind for us... i think he leaves that up to us to make our choices. thats agency, the beauty of this life. we have a choice, a choice to do good or to do evil. to fallow God or to fallow the ways of the Devil. Its up to us, its beautiful if you ask me. Its Beautiful that we have a choice in accepting the atonment of Jesus Christ.
